Kitesurfing or kiteboarding landed in Malaysia when it reaches its global popularity in the early 2000, and since then gave birth to many avid kitesurfers around Malaysia map. There are several places in Malaysia where kitesurfing is possible and Balok Beach in Kuantan, Pahang is ultimately the best of the best. Other places include Cherating, Tg Balau & Kota Kinabalu.
Now if you’re coming to Malaysia or specifically Balok Beach for kitesurfing here are all the little details that you need to know about.

As reported two days ago, the wind pattern is showing consistent growth in strength both on the charts and real time. Those who missed it this week therefore have no reason at all to sit in front of your fan with the knob yanked to maximum just to get the feel of how it might look like in Balok today. continue reading...

It all started around 1pm when the sea looks dead calm, with a few spots of white caps in a far distance. Being the usual loyal & positive-minded that I was, I sat around with another windsurf newbie waiting for a little more wind for the 8.4m rig. About half an hour later, the wind started to pick up quickly. With no traces of storms in range whatsoever, this is a good sign for pure sea breeze coming our way from the SW. When the white caps turned into dozens of wave breaks, and the trees start whistling & dancing beautifully, it’s time to hit the water. continue reading...

With the Monsoon Cup held successfully on its 4th year of the annual regatta, Malaysia has proven once again that it is worthy of one sailing nation. Sponsorships seems to be in abundant, and the crowd multiplies each year. It is no doubt that Malaysia is the on right track into becoming one of the world’s favorite spot for sailing events.
This success, although unfortunately without medal winnings, had to do in some ways with the success of the less serious division of dinghy sailing namely the Optimist, Laser, 420, 470 etc. Malaysia has some of the best sailors in the world for dinghy sailing, and it has been proven time and time again. The sensational triumphant of this division has been the pushing power to bring more serious sailing competitions like Monsoon Cup into Malaysia. In a few years, it will not be a surprise if such breed like Dato’ Peter Gilmor will be born in Malaysia. continue reading...
